Make Better Decisions | 2020 Conquerer Program
When was the last time you took the time to think about your life? Considered on what the reason is that you are placed on this earth with your specific challenges and successes? What did you always dream of and are you living it now? Did you imagine your life to look like this when you were young?
I don’t know where you are at in life but I do know that most of us can step it up a few notches into living our best life. Too often, people make life happen to them; making decision based on what is presented to them. Perhaps you finished university and needed to look for a job as you are just going through the motions. Perhaps that job, was just the job available at that time, but you actually wanted to do something else. Now after 20 years, you’re still doing the same thing based on the decision of the available opportunities at that time. Do you want to keep living your life based on coincidences and chances? Or is it time to really chase your dreams down and get what you always wanted?
I encourage you today to start making steps to live the life you always wanted and fulfil your dreams. The first step is vision. If you can’t see it, it won’t happen. Can you see how your life will look when your dreams are actually reality? Close your eyes for a moment, and visualise yourself living that life exactly how you wanted to be. Positive, success, healthy and living out the career that you want.
Next step is to write it down. In the book “7 Habits of Effective People’ by Stephen Covey, I have learned something that has absolutely helped with making better decisions every single day and staying laser focussed. How? By having your personal mission statement. What is yours? Most businesses have mission statements to direct their decisions. They ensure that it aligns to their mission statement. If businesses have it, then why don’t we have one for our personal life?
Write your vision and mission statement down and hang it up somewhere so you can see it every single day. Allow your daily decisions to be aligned with your statement. This allows you to avoid making bad decisions on things that won’t add to your life’s mission and therefore is a waste of time.
Below are a few examples of personal mission statements from successful CEOs and find more information on Personal Mission Statements here: https://www.daveramsey.com/blog/mission-statement-101
Creating your own mission statement can take days or months to create and it may change overtime also. So don’t worry too much on having everything perfect, but start with something that is important to you. At least then you will have a guideline to work with.
